The bathroom was also refurbished, with the bathtub replaced with a walk-in shower. ![]() ![]() Plugs in Sheraton Gateway LAX guest rooms included USB-A charging ports Power outlets were plentiful, the internet functioned well, and I appreciated the sitting area which allowed all of us to sit together in our room. Unlike the common areas, the rooms appeared updated and were quite comfortable. There was a horrible wait for elevators.Īs an aside, I was a Marriott Platinum member at the time, but because we were staying on an Air France vouchers I was told that my elite benefits would not be recognized (therefore, no lounge access). The hotel has seen better days and I thought the common areas on the guest room levels looked particularly dated. Heidi and I were assigned a room with a queen bed while the kids each had their own double bed. We actually could have each and our own room, but we opted for just two rooms with an adjoining door. What a waste of time and resources…why not just allocate the dining credit to my room and let me charge against it? I did ask this and the agent explained, “We do think the old way here.” Clearly. It was also a very busy time and the lobby was full of people.Ĭomically, while checking in it took the agent several minutes to fill out 12 meal vouchers cards (four for dinner, four for breakfast, four for lunch). And some companies like to run business functions (meetings or training) at an airport hotel for easy in-and-out for participants. For transit passengers with overnight connections. And a good number of these hotels have contracts with airlines to provide rooms (at the airline's expense) for passengers who are affected by unexpected flight cancellations or changes. So they move to an Airport Hotel the night before. Those hotels serve these purposes: for travelers who arrive late, not wanting to go too far for a warm meal and a nice bed or for travelers who have very early flights at LAX in the morning, not willing to risk getting stuck in traffic and miss their flights.
